Simple Lasagne Recept - a la Hanna! A very simple but delicious version of the traditional Italian lasagne, using Hungarian ingredients and St.Imrei Cheddar!

1 kg of mince (either pork or beef)
1 large onion
Few cloves of garlic
Vegetables - mushrooms, courgette (zuccini), tomatoes, leeks…
1 jar of Tomato based sauce (homemade tomato puree, tinned tomatos, or a special lasagna sauce)
1 box of dry lasagne pasta sheets
80g butter
80g flour
800ml milk
Lots of St.Imrei Cheddar!!!

Chop and fry the onion in oil. Wait until browned, then add the chopped garlic cloves.
Add the mince and fry on a high heat. Once mince is browned, lower heat and allow to simmer while you prepare the vegetables.
Use any vegetables that you wish! I usually add leeks, mushrooms and corguettes (Zuccini) but it all depends on what is in season and what you like.
Add the vegetables to the mince and stir. After a few minutes add the tomato sauce. Season with salt, pepper, marjoram and oregano. Cover with a lid and allow to simmer.

Melt the butter over a medium heat. Pour in the flour slowly, but stir quickly! Then slowly add the milk, stirring continuously. Keep stirring the mixture. You can use a hand mixer if it is very lumpy. As the sauce starts to thicken add salt, pepper and a bay leaf. Change to a low heat and keep stirring for around 5 minutes until you have a creamy thick sauce.

Spread half of the meat sauce over the bottom of a large flat oven dish. Cover with lasagne sheets. These can be broken into smaller bits to cover any gaps.
Cover the pasta sheets with half of the white sauce and use a large spoon to spread it evenly.
Repeat this process, creating a second layer and using the rest of the meat and white sauces.

Grate lots of St.Imrei Cheddar on the top of the lasagne until it is covered in a thick layer of cheese!

Put in the oven and cook for 50 minutes at 180 degrees celcius, until the cheese and pasta on top are just starting to turn crunchy and brown.

Delicious served with fresh salad and garlic bread.
